Pumpkin Fest

Halloween is the best time of the year. You get to dress up, get a lot of candy and enjoy the cool weather. MCC is hosting the annual Pumpkin Fest. This is where all the kiddos in the community come out to MCC and trick or treat in our safe environment. It is on Friday October 30th from 4-6 pm. If you are on the Kingman campus, it will start in building 200 (the student center). I hope you bring your little goblin or ghoul and enjoy a safe hassle-free Trick or Treat experience.

Finding time to study

If you are like me; you work full time, have kids and manage to take classes. So when do you fit in studying? Well, for me I am not an early riser so mornings are out for me. Over lunch I like to relax and maybe close my eyes for two minutes. Then after work time flys... make dinner, feed the family, bath time and then put everyone to bed. I tend to study after 9pm when the house is quiet. Although I would rather be spending time with my husband in front of the television, I know that getting through these classes will help me in the long run. It's not always easy to make time to study but you need to remember what your long term goal is. Study hard, remember there are tutors available on campus.

Next Step

The first week of classes is coming to a close. As the excitment of the new fades, you have to remind yourself what your end goal is. Maybe it's to get a better paying job and to enjoy waking up in the morning and enjoying the professeion you have chosen. The way you get to that goal is by studying, attending all classes, and participating in the class as much as possible. So make sure to get good use out of your highlighters and pencils. And remember a key to locking the most information into your brain is to write it down on paper, but then read it outloud to yourself. If it's not making sense go back and re-read the section. If you still have trouble you can always utilize the tutors on campus. Stay studious, stay organized and stay on track!

If you are a new student, don't forget to attend orientation and a campus tour. It will help make the first few weeks a little easier with a little less anxiety.

Are you ready for school to start? Sharpening your pencils and gathering up pens that work, erasers, notebooks and highlighters. Buying your books and bags to carry them around in. It is such a fun time. I can actually smell a differnce in the air. I am so excited, education is in the air!!
